Elsie Turbiville

Funeral Services for Elsie Turbiville, 89, of Bowman, formerly of Camp Crook, SD will be 10:00 am, Friday, November 25, 2022 at Bowman Lutheran Church with Terry Bagley officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Camp Crook, SD.

Visitation will be one prior to the service on Friday.

Elsie passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker, MT.

Elsie was born December 15, 1932, five miles south of Camp Crook, SD in Harding County, the daughter of Walter Elroy and Mary Atla (Fosberry) Stuart. She grew up and attended school at the Plainview Country School through the 6th grade. The family then moved to Ekalaka, MT where Elsie completed her schooling, graduating from Carter County High School. On October 31, 1949, Elsie and Harry J. Turbiville were united in marriage in Ekalaka. Elsie and Harry ranched northwest of Camp Crook, SD at the foothills of the Long Pines until May 18, 1961, at which time they moved to a ranch south of Marmarth, North Dakota in Bowman County. Elsie was a CNA at the Nursing Home for seven years in Beulah, ND and she helped cook Senior Meals for four and half years in Bowman, ND. She also enjoyed making flowers and decorating cakes for birthday, wedding, anniversary and miscellaneous events. She taught Sunday school at both the Baptist and Bible Church over the years. Elsie was a 4-H leader and she also took care of elderly people in the community through the years. Elsie especially loved taking care of her grandchildren.

Elsie is survived by her sons, James (Sheryl) Turbiville of Rhame, ND, Walter (Beverly) Turbiville of Dickinson, ND; daughter, Mary Kraft of Dunseith, ND; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary June (Paul) Stuart of Jamestown, ND; sisters-in-law, Greta Turbiville, Mary Lea (Stanley) Nygaard, and Ida Berreth.

Elsie is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Katherine Stuart; husband, Harry (2012); son, Larry Turbiville; sisters, Regina (Eddie) Bruha, and Nellie Stuart; brothers, Harold Stuart, William "Bill" Stuart, and Edward Stuart; granddaughter, Angel Darlene; great-grandson, Calvin Stuart Steeke.

In lieu of flowers, Elsie suggests a donation to an organization of your choice or Calvin's Scholarship Fund.
