Extension Winter Ag Series

Fallon/Carter Extension Service invites area residents to attend the annual Winter Ag Series. This year the meetings will take place on Tuesday, January 23 in Ekalaka and Wednesday, January 24 in Baker.

On January 23 the educational event will be at Carter County Event Center at the fairgrounds in Ekalaka from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. A meal will be sponsored by Carter County Conservation District. The meal will be prepared by Carter County Weed District.

On January 24 the series will be at the Fallon County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A meal will be sponsored by the Bank of Baker and prepared by the Willard Homemakers Club.

Topics this year include: “Grasshopper Management” presented by Gary Adams and Hannah Lewis from USDA and Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. “Livestock Pests and Poor Breed Ups” presented by Megan Van Emon, Extension Beef Cattle Specialist. “Drought and Extreme Weather” taught by Lee Schmelzer, Extension Agricultural Risk Specialist in Climate. ”Farm and Ranch Stress Management” taught by Michelle Grocke Dewey, MSU Extension Specialist and Jackie Beardsley, MSU Extension Agent. Amanda Williams, Fallon/Carter Co. Extension Agent will update the producers on the Palmer Amaranth weed.

Pesticide points are available for attending the Winter Ag Series. Please call the Extension office at 406-778-7110 by January 19 to register for the events so we can get a number of meals to prepare.
