    The 9th Annual Dino Shindig is set to take place next weekend in Ekalaka. Visitors will be in town from all over the world to hear lectures from leading paleontologists, partake in kids activities and dance the night away.     Rita (Babb) Knipfer is the last of Nora (Turbiville) Knipfer's children and spouses alive. Rita is the widow of the late Ernest Knipfer.     It is a tough year in Montana with drought, grasshoppers, and now wildfires. As I write this, our Musselshell Ranch is under evacuation order from the Peterson Fire. We are praying that our place will be spared while knowing that our neighbors to the north are losing almost all of their pasture as the fire explodes, and we can only pray for their livestock, their structures, and the fire fighters.     MILES CITY – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials are seeking information on two mule deer that appear to have been shot and left to waste on or near the last day of July in the Rosebud area. On June 30, FWP Region 7 Warden Sergeant Casey Prell responded to an area just north of Horse Creek Road, north of Rosebud, to investigate the incident.   • Rescuers believe lost hiker Tatum Morell did not survive

    After nearly a week of intense search efforts for missing hiker Tatum Morell in the mountains near Red Lodge Montana, rescuers now believe it is unlikely she is still alive. Rescuers have been searching extensively since July 5th for Tatum. Mountain rescue teams, search dog teams, and ground search teams have put hundreds of rescue hours into searching the area, including searching all possible routes, mountain peaks, ridges, as well as the area around her tent.   • Veteran's Memorial Park receives additional funding

    Organizers and planners of Ekalaka Veteran’s Memorial Park thank TC Energy Foundation for donating $3,000 towards the project. TC Energy has been a generous contributor for community development in the area. The park will be located in Perso Park on Main Street. It will have a masonry reflecting wall and a patio with three benches facing the wall. The wall will include the seals of the branches of the military.     Plans for the Days of ‘85 are continuing as the event draws nearer. The annual fair and rodeo is slated for August 12th through August 15th this year. On Thursday, sheep dog trials will be taking place at Ekalaka Track and Arena. On Friday at noon the pet parade will begin at the fairgrounds.     This year’s Days of ‘85 parade is quickly approaching. With the fair only four weeks away, now is the time for businesses, ranches, churches, organizations and classes to start brainstorming float ideas. “Hometown Heroes” is this year’s fair and parade theme.
