Alzada residents vie for county commissioner

Walker

As a lifetime resident of Carter County, I have a lot invested in the welfare of our county.

I graduated from Carter County High School in 1969. I married my wife, Janet Dodd, whom is also a lifetime resident of Carter County, in 1972. We ranched in the Finger Buttes area until 1984, when the 22 percent interest forced us to move on.

While ranching in the early 80s, I started working part-time under Sheriff Vernon Preuss as a reserve officer. After moving to Alzada, I worked construction in the Alzada area while continuing to work as a reserve officer. I was appointed Carter County Undersheriff in 1988 by Sheriff Joe Carey and completed the Montana Law Enforcement Academy in 1989. I later worked under Sheriff Rusty Jardee. In the 1990s I worked for the Montana Department Of Natural Resources on the County Assist Team for major fires.

Living in Alzada, my wife and I saw a need for a gas station in our area, so we jumped into small business. We built B & J's Convenience Store in Alzada and have continued with our venture and feel like we have created a successful business.

I feel like everything in life has given me the knowledge to be a good commissioner for our county. Our families’ livelihoods depend on the growth and well being of Carter County. I would sincerely appreciate your support and vote on June 5.
