Sky gazing

Hello God, it’s me, Mara:

You know, Lord, it’s fascinating when friends share a picture of sunsets, sunrises, and intriguing cloud shapes that they have seen and enjoyed, especially when they entitle it, “View from a front porch rocking chair.” Sharing the photos with a friend, she wondered if the world would be different if every one of us gazed at the lovely evening skies. Now that is a thought, right, Lord?

How many of us have seen a shooting star? A few friends have. One gal mentioned that maybe we could have world peace if every one of us would look at the night time sky and realize how it all came about. What a wonderful feeling one gets while sky gazing. It does something very good for our soul.

When we were kids out on the ranch, we loved flopping down outside in the front yard looking at the stars. We tried to spot a shooting star; sometimes, yes, sometimes, no. The nighttime sky, ablaze with stars, each bearing a name given to it by our Creator, kept our hearts and minds on Jesus, who is with us every single day. The morning sunrise was also a delight; sometimes it was very bright; sometimes it was cloudy. Bright or cloudy should confirm that God has a plan and a purpose for each one of us.

We kids liked sunsets best as the glowing sunset seemed to assure us that our Father would guard us through the night. There were also thunderstorms which represented God’s power. Many of us love observing clouds. Many times, clouds are peaceful, sometimes moving slow, sometimes moving fast. That could remind us of the peace that comes through our relationship with You, Lord which reminds us of Psalm 19:1; “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” Thank You, Lord, for awesome skies.

Love, Mara
