Dogs pick up pair of weekend wins

Senior Mick O'Connor scored 37 points as the Bulldogs pulled away from the Broadus Hawks at home last Thursday for a 16 point victory. Blue shot 62 percent from the charity stripe and heavily out-rebounded the Hawks. As a team, they committed 19 turnovers, compared to 23 for Broadus. Johnny Richards had a team-high 10 points for Broadus.

In JV action earlier in the evening, the boys suffered a twenty point loss, even with a Sean Wolenetz fourth quarter buzzer beater from way beyond the arc. Nine of Broadus' 10 players that suited up scored in the contest. Six Bulldogs scored, led by J.W. Elmore with 11. Blue went only 5-15 on free throw attempts.

Box scores were not available from the Bulldogs' game in Terry on Saturday night, but Blue did win by a final score of 43-34, improving their record to 7-2 on the season and 6-1 in the conference. This Friday, they will play in Baker. On Saturday, the JV boys will play Plevna at home. There will not be a varsity boys contest as Plevna does not have a varsity team.
