Gwen Setinc

Memorial services for Gwen Setinc, 96, of Baker, will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2020 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker with Pastor Scott Kiehn officiating. Burial will follow at Bonnievale Cemetery.

Gwen passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 at Superior Care Villa in Baker after a short cancer diagnosis.

Gwendolyn S. Seeley was born February 2, 1924 in Baker, MT, to Frank and Vera (Grow) Seeley. She grew up in Baker and obtained her diploma through Baker High School. Shortly after, Gwen married Fred Schweigert in 1941. To this union two children were born; Robert (Bobby) and Kenny Schweigert. In 1946, Gwen married Martin Setinc. To this union three children were born; Sharon, Craig, and Pam. Throughout the years, Gwen worked various jobs in the Baker community including Rexall, JC Penny, Green Dragon Loft, and Green Acres. She managed the Legion Club, owned the Newsstand, a second hand store, the Kit Kat Club and in 1979 she purchased the Tavern. She owned the Tavern until 1991 when her daughter Pam and her husband Tom took over the business. She continued to work at The Tavern until she retired in 2011 at the age of 86. Gwen was active in church and taught Sunday School for 7 years. She was also named Chairman of All Class Reunion in the year 2000. Gwen served as the President of the Chamber of Commerce and served as the Legion Auxiliary President for 10 years. She was honored with the title "Queen of the 100 year centennial." In her free time, Gwen enjoyed playing cards and bowling. She bowled in 50 consecutive years at the state tournament. Gwen especially enjoyed spending time with her family and cat, Flipper. You could always find her cooking meals and entertaining for holidays, making sure no one ever went hungry.

Gwen is survived by her children, Kenny (Bev) Schweigert of Kalispell, MT, Sharon Uecker of Billings, MT, Craig (Brenda) Setinc of Billings, MT, and Pam (Tom) Owens of Baker, MT; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and even a couple great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Nelson "Jack" (Eva) Seeley and Gordon "Jigger" (Joyce) Bruce; sister-in-law, Kristin Seeley; special friend and caregiver, Terry Bondy (Dave); and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Vera Seeley; step-father, Rex Bruce; husbands, Fred Schweigert and Martin W. Setinc; son, Bobby Schweigert; grandsons, T.J. and Britt Owens; sister, Zetta "Susie" Palen; brothers, Bob and Harold Seeley; and son-in-law, Arnie Uecker.
