4-H NEWS

The Gumbo Gophers 4-H Club had their 6th meeting at the Alzada Hall on May 26. Members present were Keenan McInerney, Zander Oliver, Colin and Clancy Higgins, Natalie Foxley, Breanna Ulmer and Tylinn Thomas. Leaders present were Terri Raye McInerney, Julie Ridinger, Crystal Higgins and Thebea Thomas. Guests present were Kathy Stieg and Noralla Thomas.

President Natalie Foxley called the meeting to order. Colin Higgins led the pledges. Roll call was answered by telling what members liked about the stay at home time. Keenan Mclnerney gave the treasurer's report. It was decided to not clean the road ditches. All Events Day will be June 3. It was decided to give Chuck Waterland a $50 gift certificate for shearing our sheep. After discussing lake day, showmanship clinics and the fair, Natalie adjourned the meeting.

Michael Millward and Kodie Olsen from the extension office had us plant seeds in egg cartons and talked about what it takes for plants to grow. They also weighed the sheep, pigs and goats for the member's market animal projects. Chuck Waterland sheared the sheep. Keenan Mclnerney gave a demonstration called “Don't Give A Shot In The Dark.”
