The comet NEOWISE over Medicine Rocks State Park

Continuing the Carter County Museum's summer programming series will be a combination of yoga and star party at Medicine Rocks State Park on Thursday, July 23rd. Yoga, led by Melissa Schwede, will begin at 8 p.m. and the star party will follow at 9 pm. The evening's events will end by 10:30 p.m.

The yoga portion will be a moon salutation led by Melissa Schwede. You can register in advance on the CCM website shop for $8 at: https://cartercountymuseum.org/product-category/yoga/ or bring $8 to the event for yoga. Some yoga mats will be provided, but it is recommended to bring one. The campground is large enough for people to socially distance during yoga.

The star party will consist of telescope viewing of comet NEOWISE, Jupiter and Saturn, night-time activities and an interpretive constellation presentation led by the Carter County Museum's educator Steve Hobe. This portion of the night will be free to the public. Cleaning wipes and stations will be present and used for all activities.

Attendees will meet in the farthest back portion of the park near the Sunset Loop trail entrance. A virtual star party will accompany the event and be posted to the CCM Facebook Page.
