Conversations with God
Quality, not quantity
September 3, 2021
Hello God, it’s me, Mara:
You know, Lord, recalling a ‘happening’ from a long time ago, was fascinating. Several of us gals had to deal with those pre-college physicals. None of us were really that tall but several of us were delighted to see that we WERE taller than five-feet. Woo-hoo – even though it was only one-quarter inch. Time passed, we’d kept in touch, then several of us were less than thrilled when a recent measurement set two of them, once again, at under five feet. Friend K.G. said, “No wonder my motto has always been “Quality, not Quantity.”
S.D. said; “You know, girls, that is a motto that I have had trouble taking seriously, though, in regard to my faith. Yes, I know that God’s power is limitless, awe inspiring, and of course, tremendous. I also know that my faith should be abundant, healthy, vigorous and triumphant, right?” We giggled and truly did agree with S.D.
Then quietly, K.G. said, “Maybe our desire to have that kind of “quantity” faith is a bit presumptuous. Yes, several of us may be short; okay, okay, I am short, but God has never asked me, or you, either, to be God.
K.G. quickly added, “I know where you’re going with that; I also know that I, as well as you, we are called to be part of the remnant, and even if I have faith the size of a mustard seed, I can, WE can, still hear His still small voice. We can thank our Father for asking us to believe and to do our best in our human ability. Let’s remember 1 Kings 19:12; “The Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”
We decided to take time that day and today to listen to what our Father God is telling us, quietly.
Thank You, Lord, for Your message.
