On September 23, CCHS netters traveled to Broadus to face the Hawks.
The JV squad won in five sets over the Hawk (25-20, 25-19, 13-15, 11-15, 15-13).
Tracy Wilson had a nice game defensively, compiling 5 digs to lead the team. Kendra Tooke led the team in assists (5 of 9), and Tegan Williams led in kills (4 of 15). Brynn Loehding had a fine game serving, totaling 6 of the team’s 16 aces.
The varsity girls did not fare as well in Broadus, losing in three sets (17-25, 15-25, 23-25). Greta Barrett, Tyra O’Connor and Codi Melton each had 2 aces for Blue. O’Connor also had a team-high 5 digs. Katie Tooke led the team in both kills (3 of 7) and blocks (4 of 7). Carly Aho and Heidi LaBree had all of the girls’ assists with 2 each.
On Tuesday in Baker, CCHS JV took on a Spartan C squad in a non-conference match. The JV girls lost in three sets (21-25, 12-25, 4-15). Kendall Kittelmann led the way with 2 of the team’s aces and 2 kills. Brynn Loehding also had a pair of aces. Kendall Shepherd and Tegan Williams chipped in with 2 aces a piece while Kendra Tooke had 5 of the team’s 7 assists.
The varsity netters played Baker’s JV squad and came away with a 3-0 win. The Lady Bulldogs took the first set 25-22, the second 25-17 and the third 15-13. Blue had an impressive 17 kills in the match, led by Codi Melton with 8. Setter Heidi LaBree had 9 of the team’s 13 assists and a team high in aces (4 of 10). Katie Tooke led in blocks (2 of 3) while Tyra O’Connor led in digs (3 of 12).
This Friday, CCHS will play home matches against Wibaux. On Saturday, they will have a second shot at taking down the Hawks, this time at home.
