Lady Bulldogs drop weekend matches

The CCHS Lady Bulldogs played matches at home versus Wibaux and Broadus over the weekend.

On Friday, Blue lost to Wibaux in four sets; 25-21, 17-25, 23-25 and 16-25. CCHS had 57 digs, 26 kills, 21 assist, 13 aces and 4 blocks in the match.

Carly Aho led in digs with 13. Heidi LaBree led in assists with 12 and aces with 7. Codi Melton led in kills with 9 and tied with Katie Tooke for the lead in blocks with 2.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs fell to the Broadus Hawks in three straight sets; 16-25, 18-25 and 20-25. The Bulldogs totaled 15 assists and 17 kills while the Hawks had 30 and 32, respectively. Abi Krantz had 16 kills for Broadus.

For the Dogs it was Codi Melton who led in kills with 8. She also had a team-high 3 aces. Katie Tooke had 2 of the girls’ 3 blocks, Zoie Rost had 7 of 13 digs and Heidi LaBree had 8 of 15 assists.

This Thursday the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Plevna for a varsity contest. On Saturday, they will host the Willa Nies Invitational Volleyball Tournament in Ekalaka. This year eight teams, including CCHS, will compete in the tourney. Visiting schools include Baker, Circle, Terry, Jordan, Wibaux, Broadus and Plevna.
