CARTER COUNTY COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS

The Board of Carter County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, August, 24, 2023 in the Carter County Commission Board meeting room of Carter County Courthouse at 214 Park Street in Ekalaka, Montana. Rod Tauck, Chairman, and Pamela J. Castleberry, Member, was present. Mike Watkins, Vice-Chair, was absent.

The meeting was called to order at 9 a.m. There was no public comment.

Road and Bridge Supervisor Carl Knapp joined the meeting to request permission to hire Road Crew employee. The commission reviewed the ad and approved request to fill the vacancy.

The Road Department will advertise for gravel crushing contracts at the Loken Pit for 50,000 yards and Kerr Pit for 25,000 yards. There was discussion regarding permitting at the Kennedy Pit and the Shultz pit for limited use in the upcoming year. Carl left the meeting.

Clerk and Recorder Dana Eshelman and Senior Coordinator Tricia Lovec joined the meeting. Dana presented more information on the upcoming credit card accounts. Commissioner Castleberry made the motion to approve the credit card policy. Commissioner Tauck seconded the motion. There was no public comment and the motion carried.

The Commission signed the request for reimbursement for Carter County airport funding. Document number AIP 3-30-0025-016-2023 KLJ no 2005-01189.

County Sanitation officer Renee Grenere stepped into the meeting to update the Commission on changes in the agreement with the State Health Department. The documentation and agreements with the state will be sent to the Commission to approve before Renee. The Board of Health and Public Health Officer will be included in the process of the Sanitation Department.

The meeting adjourned for lunch at 12 p.m. and reconvened at 1 p.m.

Lizzy Robertson, Eastern Plains Economic Development Corporation (EPEDC) joined the meeting to touch base on local projects including the Old Hospital Building, Veterans Memorial at Perso Park, IOOF Cemetery marker replacement and housing

Commissioner Castleberry made a motion to sign a letter of support the grant for the Veterans Memorial and the Cemetery markers. Commissioner Tauck seconded the motion. There was no public comment and the motion carried.

Meeting recess from 2:00-2:35 Commissioners met with Doug Stieg to locate propane tank location for the generator that will be moved from the old hospital to the new hospital.

Lisa Rieger from the Department of Revenue come by to let the Commission know that she has taken a manager position with the Department and will soon be training her replacement. She will also be available for questions or help if needed through the Baker office. Her replacement will continue to staff the Ekalaka Office.

Commissioner Castleberry made the motion to approve the proceedings for August 14th and 2lst 2023. Commissioner Tauck seconded the motion. There was no public comment and the motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 3:25 p.m.
