FWP seeking public comment on revision to upland game bird strategic plan

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking public comment on a draft revision to the Upland Game Bird Enhancement Program Strategic Plan (UGBEP). The comment deadline has been extended from Nov. 30 to Dec. 30.

Extending the comment period provides additional opportunity for the public to read the plan and provide comment specific to the Upland Game Bird Enhancement Program. Comments specific to upland game bird season setting and regulations should be directed to [email protected] on behalf of the Fish and Wildlife Commission.

The strategic plan was written in 2011 using recommendations and guidance from the UGBEP Council. The plan is intended to provide a common understanding for how the program will be administered and implemented.

The revised plan builds on the original version by incorporating several updates that were added following the advisory council’s recommendations. Updates include increasing program capacity by collaborating with conservation partners statewide, expanding regional focus areas and prioritizing habitat enhancement and conservation of upland game bird populations in Montana.

To view the revised plan and to comment, go to fwp.mt.gov/aboutfwp/public-comment-opportunities/ugbep-strategic-plan. Deadline to comment is Dec. 30.
