The Senate passed the bill on a 30-to-20 vote last month. The bill would carry fines of $10,000 per person able to access the app, compounded daily. • The voice of 100.5 signs off after a 22-year career

Shannon Johnson, Fallon County Times|Updated Apr 20, 2023

Vaughn Zenko, the man behind the voice that Baker’s started their day with for the last 22 years, retired his microphone last week. Vaughn moved to Baker from Milwaukee, WI for a job with KFLN as a sports announcer in January of 2001. It wasn’t long before young and ambitious Vaughn pitched the idea of a morning radio show to his boss, Russ. He was given the go ahead and he couldn’t have been more excited “I’m really proud of what we did, and I hope I made Baker proud,” said Zenko. “A whole generation grew up with what I w...

  • Legislative Report

    Jerry Schillinger|Updated Apr 20, 2023

I hope everyone had a Blessed Easter. Friday after a morning floor session, Appropriations Committee, and informal appropriations get together, we were out for Easter break! After a quick change of clothes, I jumped in my pickup and headed East. Thanks to longer days I was able to pull into home shortly after dark, where I was greeted by son Brett, granddaughter Bryn and grandson Keny. Keny brought a plate of treats he had prepared and got the tv prepared with a movie to...

  • Cooking in the West

    Susan Metcalf|Updated Apr 20, 2023

There are a lot of sleep deprived ranch families trying to function at this time of year, because calving happens 24/7. I loved this story written by Tucker Luthan about his wife Andrea. The Luthans run a cow/calf and farming operation in Idalia, Colorado, and this story is priceless! “A True Story from the Rafter TA” by Tucker Luthan Cold wasn’t a strong enough word to describe what the mercury was trying to say. The wind had swept up snow in its rage and thrown it wherever it thought handy the way a misunderstood presc...

  • Conversations with God

    Updated Apr 20, 2023

Hello God, it’s me, Mara: You know, Lord, sometimes unexpected ‘things’ come together in surprising ways. ‘Miss Emy’ was delighted about Easter and how her family really liked John 8:12, a verse Jesus told his followers, before the Resurrection. She recited it: ‘When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ She changed the subject then, talking about her company, which was mostly family, this time, and how she’d o...

  • Belltower embroidery and garment printing business growing

    Updated Apr 20, 2023

Stephanie Carroll started an embroidery business out of her home near Belltower in 2018 because she "felt like there was a need for one in Carter County," she told the Eagle on Tuesday. Since then, she has added a lot more services to her now growing business, Carroll Customs. "It started with just one embroidery machine. Then we added another one and a year or two later added garment printing, vinyl and ink. Les [Kreitel] said my slogan should be 'just ask, we might,'...
