The Moderna vaccine was granted an emergency use authorization by the United Stated Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last Friday. DMHA began vaccinating healthcare personnel on Tuesday. Dahl Memorial Hospital has received generous donations of $62,917.15 from Zoe Waldren, $5,000 from an anonymous family, $2,000 from Luther and Marlene Waterland, $500 from an anonymous donor, and $400 from the class of 2002 in memory of Lois Lambert and Shelly Grimes. Next Monday Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association will hold one more drive-thru flu vaccination clinic. The clinic will take place outside of the hospital from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The cost for the vaccine is $25 and can be paid by cash or check only. Work is rapidly progressing on the inside of the new Dahl Memorial Healthcare facility in Ekalaka. Much of the electrical and plumbing has been ran to the twenty-one long-term care rooms on the eastern end of the building, and duct work is currently being prepped for installation. Physical health assessments for all boys planning to play sports at Ekalaka Public Schools during the upcoming school year will take place from July 21 through July 24.
