Ekalaka Public Schools recently created a survey asking for input from community members about the use of school facilities, especially the gyms, weight room and Tuggle room. The Bureau of Land Management has extended the public comment period again for the environmental assessment for the Denbury Carbon Solutions, LLC proposal to construct and operate a CO2 sequestration project in southeastern Montana. Another one of my teaching colleagues, Alice Bassett, has passed on to that big school in the sky where there is eternal duty free lunch. Saturday, April 20, prom was held at Carter County High School. The Class of 2025 worked to create a tiki beach themed prom. Palm trees were built, tiki huts made and lights strung throughout the gym. Girls wore beautiful dresses and the young men looked sharp in their tuxes. Grand march was held at 8 and parents were out the door by 9. By 10:30, all couples had left except for 11 kids. April 22, 2024 Our countryside at Capitol and on Tie Creek is greening up. The snow showers, and the few misty rains, have helped settle the dirt, but we could use a nice long slow shower, now. The Carter County FFA chapter traveled to Billings April 2nd-6th to compete in various career development events and leadership development events over the course of the week. The teams did very well while competing. On April 18th, the Bureau of Land Management adopted a long-awaited rule that aims to put conservation initiatives "on equal footing" with oil and gas leasing, grazing and other commercial uses of federal land. Ronald Leroy Meyers, 81, of Great Falls, Montana, passed away on April 8, 2024, following a health decline caused by pulmonary fibrosis.
