Town of Ekalaka municipal election

The Carter County clerk and recorder’s office and the Town of Ekalaka office are now accepting Declaration for Nomination and Oath of Candidacy from individuals interested in serving on Ekalaka Town Council. Qualified individuals must meet the legal requirements of being a resident of the town for at least 60 days preceding the election to office.

To qualify for the mayor position, individuals must be at least 21 years old, must be a resident of the State of Montana for at least 3 years, and must be a resident of the town for at least two years preceding the election to office.

The Town of Ekalaka municipal election is fast approaching. Filing dates are now open through June 19, 2017.

Positions and terms up for election are: Mayor (four-year term) currently held by Steve DeFord; council member (2–four-year terms) currently held by Phil Cook and Ella Voise; and a two-year unexpired term currently held by Clayton Stieg.

Interested individuals may file paperwork with the Carter County Election Administrator, PO Box 315, Ekalaka, MT 59324 in the Clerk and Recorder’s office at 214 Park Street in Ekalaka, MT 59324, or by contacting Lisa Jourdan at the Town office, PO Box 338, Ekalaka, Montana 59324.
