Bulldogs sit atop 2C

The CCHS Lady Bulldogs had a busy few days, playing in the Willa Nies Memorial Tournament on Saturday and in non-conference games against Buffalo, South Dakota on Monday.

CCHS coaches elected to split their team into two squads for the tourney on Saturday. Jordan defeated Ekalaka 1 in two sets, 25-17 and 25-19 in the first game of the tournament. Ekalaka 2 took down Terry in two sets in the second match. Custer/Hysham beat Jordan in the third.

Broadus narrowly defeated Ekalaka 2 in the next game, 25-12, 22-25 and 16-14. Jordan defeated Terry in the fifth game.

The sixth game featured friendly competition as Ekalaka 2 defeated Ekalaka 1 in two sets, 25-22 and 25-13. After that, Broadus took down Custer/Hysham and Jordan beat Ekalaka 2.

With both Ekalaka teams out, Custer/Hysham defeated Jordan to make it to the championship where they played Broadus. Broadus then won the championship in three sets, 25-22, 27-25 and 25-22.

It took four sets for CCHS to beat the Harding County Ranchers in Ekalaka on Monday. Lady Blue won the first two sets 25-19 and 25-18, lost the third 22-25, and won set four, 25-21. Whitney Kittelmann led the team with 5 of 14 aces, 17 of 74 digs and 20 of 35 assists. Kenzie Tooke had half of Blue's four blocks and Gracie Tooke led in kills with 14.

CCHS currently sits atop the 2C Volleyball Conference. This Friday they play an important game against Wibaux at home. On Saturday, they travel to Circle for another key matchup.
