Driver safety course, November 18

A four hour driver safety course will be held at the Carter County Senior Citizens Center on Monday, November 18. The course will be taught by Carole Carey. Those who participate will receive a workbook, watch videos and have a discussion on driver safety. The course is geared for drivers at least 55 years of age. Everyone is welcome to attend and will benefit from this great review course on driver safety. Participants will receive a certificate at the end of the course that they can give to their insurance company which may result in a discount on the driver liability portion of their vehicle insurance.

This class will start at 10 a.m. and go until noon. It will then resume at 1 p.m. and end around 3 p.m. The cost of the course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non AARP members and those under age 55. Insurance companies may not give a deduction for those under age 55. Certificate discounts from the course are good for two or three years, depending on the insurance company. A sign-up sheet for the course will be available at the center, or interested individuals can call Carole Carey at 406-775-6644.

This course contains a great deal of useful review information and handy driver tips, all of which becomes important as drivers age and reaction times slow down. Many who have attended in the past feel they have learned something valuable, and the best part is, since it is only a review, there is no test upon completion of the course.

This important program is funded completely through fees charged to those who attend the class, not AARP money. Attendees should bring their AARP card (if they have one) and a valid driver license. Carey looks forward to seeing all who attend.
