Lady Dogs fall to Longhorns

The CCHS Lady Bulldogs handed the Lady Eagles a 36-point loss last Friday night in Northern Cheyenne. The Eagles are currently in third place in the conference, while CCHS currently sits in fourth with one weekend's worth of games to go before the start of the District 4C Tournament.

The Dogs attempted 18 more field goals than the Eagles and shot a better percentage (39 percent compared to 21 percent) in the contest. They out-rebounded Northern Cheyenne, 42-24, and had ten fewer turnovers. Kenzie Tooke led CCHS in rebounds with 8, 4 of which were on the offensive end, while Heather LaBree led the scoring with 17 points. Nine Bulldogs scored in the game.

On Saturday night at home, the girls battled Wibaux. The game was close for most of the contest, but early in the fourth quarter the Longhorns took a double-digit lead. CCHS went into a full court press and trimmed the deficit to 2 points, but couldn't complete the comeback for the win. The Dogs attempted 9 more free throws than the Longhorns and shot a better percentage (75 percent) at the free throw line than the Longhorns (53 percent).

Blue also shot seven more two-point field goals and 5 more three-pointers, but only made 26 percent of their shots while Wibaux made 42 percent of theirs. The Dogs had 32 total rebounds, 13 of which were offensive, while Wibaux had 24 (6 offensive). Heather LaBree led CCHS in points with 21; Tyra O'Connnor led in rebounds with 8.

This weekend the girls will wrap up their regular season with a home game versus Terry on Friday and an away game in Hysham on Saturday.
