Scholarships available to electric cooperative members

Southeast Electric encourages students and members to always be learning. Scholarship funds are always a good way to help with this goal. In the last ten years, Southeast has awarded over $50,000 worth of scholarships. The cooperative considers it an investment in its future. The following scholarships are open to students who are members or whose parents/guardians are members of Southeast Electric Cooperative.

The Basin Electric Power Cooperative Scholarship ($1000) is sponsored by Southeast Electric Cooperative Inc. and Basin Electric Power Cooperative. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who is enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time graduate or undergraduate course of study at an accredited, two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school.

The MECA Memorial Scholarship ($500) is part of a regional competition. It is sponsored by Montana Electric Cooperatives’ Assn. MECA will award $500 to a student from either Goldenwest, Mid-Yellowstone, Southeast, Tongue River or Yellowstone Rural Electric who is a high school graduate planning to enter college/Vo-Tech in the Fall of 2021 or who is currently in a college undergraduate program.

The Southeast Electric Essay Scholarship ($1000) is intended for a graduating high school senior planning to attend a full-time college or Vo-Tech or currently enrolled full-time at a college or Vo-Tech school.

Deadline for the above scholarships is Monday, January 25, 2021.

The Vernon Emery Memorial Lineman Scholarship ($1500) is awarded by Southeast Electric Cooperative, Inc. The cooperative awards a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving person planning to enroll in a Power Line Construction and Maintenance curriculum at an accredited Tech School and $500 is added by the family of Vernon Emery. Applications are reviewed as needed.
