Inaugural fly-in a huge success

Ekalaka Airport hosted an inaugural 97M fly-in on September 11. The event was exceptionally well received as over one hundred people attended.

Fourteen planes and one helicopter were there, as were 8 cars and one pickup for a car show that accompanied the fly-in. The furthest plane came from Missoula.

The event was held to promote general aviation as well as Ekalaka Airport and the community. The airport sells fuel, has an ample pilot's lounge and a courtesy car that can take pilots to the many amenities the area has to offer.

Around twenty-five children were in attendance. Many of them, as well as a few adults, participated in a flour drop competition where participants got a chance to ride with a local pilot and tried to drop a bag of flour onto a target while flying by.

Attendees were also served lunch and treated to music from local musicians. Organizers were very pleased with the event's success and hope to hold another fly-in next year.
