Have filed for office

The deadline for filing for county office is already fast approaching. Individuals have until March 14th at 5 p.m. to file.

As of Wednesday morning, seven individuals, four of whom are incumbents, have filed for office.

County positions up for election in 2022 include Carter County Commissioner from District #2 (six-year term), County Attorney (4-year term), County Clerk and Recorder/Public Administrator/Surveyor (4-year term), County Treasurer (4-year term) and Justice of the Peace (4-year term).

Incumbent Steve Rosencranz, Republican, and Pamela J. Castleberry, Republican, have filed for commissioner. Incumbent Corbit S. Harrington, Republican, has filed for County Attorney. Republican Judy Wright has filed for County Clerk and Recorder/Public Administrator/Surveyor. Incumbent Jesi Pierson, Republican, has filed for County Treasurer. Non partisan candidates for Justice of the Peace who have filed include incumbent Kathleen “Kathy” Rosencranz and Kamely Harkins.

To file for county offices, individuals must be 18 years or older and be a citizen of the state and an elector of the county in which the duties of the offices are to be exercised.

Interested individuals may file at the Clerk and Recorder’s Office in the Carter County Courthouse, 214 Park Street in Ekalaka. Questions concerning the election may be directed to the office at (406) 775-8749.

Montana’s primary election will take place on June 7, followed by the general election on November 8.
