CCHS starts season 0-2

The CCHS Bulldog varsity boys’ basketball team also kicked off their season last weekend, falling to non-conference opponents Melstone and Savage.

The ‘Dogs were outscored by the Melstone Broncs by 18 points in the first half on Friday, and went on to lose by 42. The Bulldogs are a young team this year with two seniors on the roster, only one of whom, Avory Matthews, was able to suit up over the weekend. Melstone senior Bryce Grebe led all scorers with 19 points in the game; freshman Wyatt Melton led CCHS with 14.

The boys played a tighter contest against Savage in Miles City on Saturday, losing by 24 points. Three players scored seven points each for the ‘Dogs, and five total made their way into the scoring column. The Bulldogs had 35 turnovers and shot 3 of 7 on free throws. Chace Loehding hit a three-pointer in the second quarter. He was one of the three Bulldog players with 7 points in the game; Kaleb Frye and Jace Pardee were the others.

THe Bulldogs are again coached by Jeremy Frye. Chris Jardee is assistant.

This Friday, CCHS will play Broadview/Lavina at Lavina. On Saturday they are scheduled to play Reedpoint/Rapelje at Broadview.
