Wreaths Across America ceremony, December 17

The VFW Auxiliary to Post 7885 will be hosting a ceremony on National Wreaths Across America Day, Saturday, December 17. The event is set to begin at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park in Ekalaka.

Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 2,500 locations across the United States, at sea and abroad. Wreaths Across America’s mission is to remember, honor and teach throughout the year.

Even though Veterans Day occurs in the fall and Memorial Day in the spring, service members sacrifice their time and safety every single day of the year to preserve Americans freedoms.

In many homes, there is an empty seat for one who is serving or one who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. There is no better time to express appreciation than during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

The auxiliary held a brief ceremony last year which was well-received, so members decided to do it again this year. Their goal is to raise enough money so that they can have a wreath for each veteran laid to rest at Beaver Lodge Cemetery. The wreaths cost $15 each.

Anyone interested in donating funds may contact Jacki Poland at 406-775-3545 for more information. Donations can be mailed to VFW Auxiliary 7885, c/o Jacki Poland, P.O. Box 275, Ekalaka, MT 59324. Please write “Wreaths Across America Fund” on the memo line.

The auxiliary invites all to join and honor local veterans who have passed on Saturday, December 17th, 11 a.m. at Veterans Park in Ekalaka.
