JV 'Dogs defeat JV Terriers

All thirteen JV 'Dogs suited for the boys' game versus the JV Terry Terriers got some playing time during the team's 33-point win on January 20th. Of those 13, 9 managed to get a number in the scoring column of the book. The 'JV Dogs won every quarter and shot 1 for 2 on free throws; Terry went 0 of 4. Eldon Morris, Ethan Mellon and James Enos all had one three-pointer for CCHS.

The following game vs. The JV Broadus Hawks didn't go as well for the JV 'Dogs. CCHS went down by 11 early and eventually lost by 29. Six players scored for Ekalaka, led by Ethan Mellon and Kaleb Frye with 9 points each. JV Hawk Landen Capp led all scorers with 25 points, 13 of which came in the second quarter. CCHS shot 5 of 8 on free throws; Broadus went 3 of 9.

The varsity Bulldogs came up short in their effort against the Terriers of Terry at home last Friday. Blue cut a 27-point deficit at halftime to 20 by the game's end. Two 'Dogs scored double-digit points in the game, led by Wyatt Melton with 15. CCHS shot 3 of 6 on free throws in the contest; Terry went 3 of 11. CCHS had 27 turnovers as a team; Terry had 23. Landen Schilling had 19 points to lead the Terriers.

The current conference leader Broadus Hawks defeated the Bulldogs, 70-32, the following night in Broadus. All 10 Hawks that were suited scored in the contest, led by Dillon Gee with 16. Ethan Mellon had 9 points, all of which came in the fourth quarter from beyond the arc, to lead the Bulldogs. The score was 9-29 at the end of the first quarter and 11-49 at the half. CCHS went 6-7 (85 percent on free throws while Broadus went 7-14 (50 percent).

This Friday CCHS hopes to get on track with a home game versus Wibaux. On Saturday they play at Jordan and next Tuesday they are scheduled to play in Baker.
