Lady 'Dogs down Lady 'Horns

It was a busy eight days for Bulldog basketball teams. CCHS traveled to Terry on January 16th, to Jordan on January 19th, played at home on the 20th, and traveled to Baker on the 23rd.

The varsity girls lost in Terry on the 16th, 42-50. Lady Blue was up by 14 points at halftime, but they were outscored 5-22 in the third. CCHS out-rebounded Terry, 47-32, but lost the turnover battle, 19-15. Lady Blue shot 58 percent on free throws, 22 percent from inside the arc, and 26 percent from behind it. Danica Shepherd had 15 rebounds for CCHS and Kendra Tooke had 14. Keli Melton led the team in points with 13.

On Friday, January 19th the Lady Bulldogs lost in Jordan, 33-50. As a team they shot 25 percent from the free throw line and 28 percent from the field. They lost the turnover battle, 18-14, and on the boards, 32-36. Danica Shepherd and Kendra Tooke each had 10 points and eight rebounds to lead the way for Lady Blue. K. Hafla had 20 points for the Lady Mustangs.

On Saturday at home, the varsity Lady Bulldogs got a big win at home over Wibaux. CCHS outscored Wibaux 35-18 in the second and third quarters to secure the game. They shot an impressive 27-37 (73 percent) on two-pointers but only went 3-13 (23 percent) from deep. Blue also out-rebounded Wibaux by a wide margin, 36-20. Keli Melton led CCCHS in points with 24. Danica Shepherd chipped in with 16 points and also led the team in rebounds with 9. Abby Begger led the Lady Longhorns with 23 points.

On Tuesday night, the CCHS Lady Bulldogs lost to Class B Baker, 19-70. Stats were not yet available by press time Wednesday. This Thursday, CCHS is scheduled to play Plevna at home. They also have home games scheduled against Broadus on Friday. On January 30th, they travel to Broadus; they travel to Plevna on February 2nd; and play at home versus Terry on February 3rd.
