    There is a new extension agent in town. Amanda Williams comes to the area with a familiarity for the region she is now serving. Williams grew up in Miles City and spent a lot of time on the family ranch near Ekalaka.     The 8-Man Bob Cleverley Class C All-Star football game took place on June 5 in Butte. One Carter County High School player, Jared Pardee, represented the Bulldogs in Butte alongside Head Coach Tenadore Kittelmann. Kittelmann and Pardee were on the winning side as the Red team defeated the Blue team, 34-28.   • 13th annual football camp brings in players from all over region

    The 13th Annual Leaders, Legends, and Legacies Football Camp took place last week in Ekalaka. There was an outstanding turnout at this year's camp with nearly 100 kids participating. Campers came from all over the state, North Dakota, South Dakota and even one player from Florida. Coaches shared knowledge and life lessons to the young athletes.   • Jesperson retires after 35 years with USPS

    Postmaster Becky Jesperson retired from the U.S. Postal Service on May 28, 2021 after thirty-five years of service. A retirement celebration was held for her at the Ekalaka Post Office on June 25. Jesperson started her career in 1986 as a clerk at the Ekalaka Post Office. She continued to work as a clerk until her promotion to postmaster in 2019. At right, she is pictured with three other retired postmasters who still live in Ekalaka.     Those of you who follow Facebook probably know that I made a trip to Ekalaka last week. Actually it wasn’t so much a trip to Ekalaka as a trip to Camp Needmore for a family reunion. I did get to Ekalaka and will tell you of my impressions. First the trip; I flew from Sacramento to Denver and then rode to Ekalaka with my sister Marti and her husband Roy Cornwell.   • Veteran's Park receives funding boost

    The Carter County Community Foundation was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from ONEOK, Inc. for Ekalaka Veteran’s Park, a memorial at Perso Park on the corner of Speelmon Street East and Main Street. Eastern Plains Economic Development Corporation (EPEDC) is providing grant writing services to help find funding for the project.
