The last article was about Pickards Market, later Main Street Market. The building is still there but vacant.     I know many people are dealing with the tragic aftermath of unprecedented flooding along the Yellowstone river and many of its tributaries last month. I remember our experience with disaster agencies during our last flood in 2011. Fortunately, we were not negatively affected by flooding this year, but I remember well when our house was declared uninhabitable, and I was delighted and relieved, because it meant we would receive federal disaster aid!     This year’s Carter County Days of ‘85 parade is quickly approaching. With the fair only three weeks away, now is the time for businesses, farms and ranches, churches, organizations and classes holding reunions to start brainstorming float ideas. “Carter County: Where the West Was Won” is this year’s fair and parade theme. The parade is scheduled for Sunday, August 14 at 11 a.m. Entries for the parade are due by Friday, August 12. Late entries may be accepted, but will not be judged.     James Hugh Jennings, 81, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins, WY. Hugh was born on September 9th, 1940, in Fairbury, Nebraska to Skeets and Blanch Jennings. Hugh grew up in Ekalaka, Montana on the family ranch with his two brothers and two sisters.     Plans for the Days of ‘85 are continuing as the event draws nearer. The annual county fair and rodeo is slated for August 11th through August 14th this year. On Thursday, sheep dog trials will be taking place at Ekalaka Track and Arena. A silent auction will begin and animal shows will also be taking place. On Friday at 10 a.m., a sand volleyball tourney will be taking place at the town park. At noon the pet parade will begin at the fairgrounds.
