  • No health fair at Dahl in 2021, but lab checks still available

    Dahl Memorial Healthcare will not be holding an annual health fair this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although there won’t be a health fair, Dahl will still be offering the service of screening labs at a lower cost to local community members. Staff also recently announced that they are starting a program called Lab Check which will cover four screening tests to the public year-round.     Last week, county commissioners unanimously voted to change the name of the new healthcare facility currently under construction in Ekalaka. The new facility will be named "Carter County Healthcare Facility," and will be dedicated to the taxpayers of Carter County, according to unofficial commission meeting minutes.     Dahl Memorial Hospital has received generous donations of $62,917.15 from Zoe Waldren, $5,000 from an anonymous family, $2,000 from Luther and Marlene Waterland, $500 from an anonymous donor, and $400 from the class of 2002 in memory of Lois Lambert and Shelly Grimes.     An angel tree for Dahl memorial residents is currently set up at the entrance to Carter County Courthouse. The tree was put up by staff members to help make Dahl residents' holiday a little bit brighter. Community members are invited to read through and find an angel of their choosing.     Next Monday Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association will hold one more drive-thru flu vaccination clinic. The clinic will take place outside of the hospital from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The cost for the vaccine is $25 and can be paid by cash or check only.
