    One of the most exciting junior varsity volleyball games in recent memory ended with a Lady Bulldog victory on September 26th at Ekalaka Elementary. The JV girls from Ekalaka dropped the first two sets of the match to the JV Lady Mustangs from Jordan 21-25 and 20-25. In JV action, the final sets of the match are usually played to 15.   • 'Dogs lose on homecoming

    The CCHS Bulldogs held the ball for a large part of the first quarter in their game against the Culbertson Cowboys for homecoming on September 27th at Rowley Field. Blue started the game with a couple of offensive penalties that quickly put them behind the chains. They were forced to punt but Culbertson's return man fumbled the kick and Blue recovered.   • Varsity netters defeat Plevna, NCTS

    The varsity Lady Bulldogs played volleyball matches versus Plevna and at Northern Cheyenne last week, winning both in three straight sets. Versus Plevna, CCHS won 25-17, 25-20 and 25-10. As a team, the Lady 'Dogs had 15 aces, 21 kills, 5 blocks, 11 digs and 18 assists.   • Bulldogs fall to Wildcats

    The Bulldog football team suffered a conference loss to the Circle Wildcats on September 21st in Circle. The Bulldogs had the first possession of the game and started at their own 15 yard-line. They were able to manage two first downs on the ground but eventually turned the ball over on downs at their own 37-yard line.     On September 12th at home, the CCHS Lady Bulldog netters lost three straight sets to the Broadus Lady Hawks; 14-25, 11-25, 22-25. CCHS had 2 aces, 16 kills, 2 blocks, 35 digs and 14 assists in the match. Nasya O'Connor led the team with 8 of those digs, 6 kills and one of the two aces.     The CCHS Bulldogs improved their record to 3-0 on the young football season with a win over the Forsyth Dogies on September 13th at Rowley Field. The 'Dogs came out strong, looking to rectify a big loss to Forsyth late last season. Bulldog Roger Beach had a nice return on the opening kickoff to set up CCHS with good field position.     It's been an improved defense that has made the difference so far this season for the CCHS Bulldog football team. The boys started their season at home on August 31st with a late afternoon game against the Plentywood Wildcats.     The CCHS varsity volleyball squad opened their season by winning a tournament in Sidney on August 31st. The team only lost one set throughout the entire day. The girls defeated Froid/Medicine Lake, Sidney JV, Wibaux, Plevna, and Richey/Lambert - all in two sets - on their way to the championship match.     Carter County High School fall sports begin Friday, August 16th. A Bulldog barbecue and open house will be held Thursday, August 15th at 5 p.m. All K-12 students and families are invited and all 7-12 parents and athletes are required to attend.     CCHS seniors Ryker Carroll and Ethan Frye competed at the Norm Girard North/East Top 10 Track & Field Meet in Glasgow on Monday. Both ran the 110 meter hurdles.   • AAU wrestling wraps up successful season

    A group of local volunteers started up an AAU wrestling program in Ekalaka last fall. Thirty-five kids, ranging from preschool to high school, started wrestling practices at the end of November. The team practiced a few nights per week at St. Joan of Arc Parish Hall in Ekalaka and also traveled to Baker for practices.
