One teenager died and another was injured in a crash on Highway 7 early Saturday morning, March 19. The Montana Highway Patrol said the two people were headed south near mile marker 9 at about 2:30 a.m. when the car went off the road and rolled several times into a pasture. The driver of the car, a nineteen-year old male from Ekalaka, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. The ambulance service in Ekalaka has very few EMTs. They range in age from age twenty-four to 70+, and most have other full time jobs. Counting illness and medical leave, there are currently only four people who can take calls. An average month has 1,440 hours which need to be covered by a two-person crew for the ambulance. Employees at Dahl Memorial Healthcare recently rolled up their sleeves, grabbed some icing and gumdrops and competed in a gingerbread house decorating contest. Mary Ann Moore, age 89, passed away on November 21, 2021 at Holy Rosary Extended Care following a short illness from throat cancer.
